The Bishop of Salisbury was the preacher at the closing service of the Missionary Council. There w impressive singing at the Easter services by the men and women of the Russian Cathedral choir. It. was significant that the resolution of the closing session urged missionaries j not to, lay claim on their Governments for the armed defence of missionaries and mission . properties. Another resolution urged them to exert unremitting’ effort and prayer for the renunciation of war. Pr Mott (New York, , chairman) described it as the most courageous meeting in his 40 years’ experience. He was convinced that it would have far-reaching effects.—Australian Press Association. REMOVAL OF RACIAL PREJUDICES. WORLD EDUCATION NEEPED. JERUSALEM, April 8. The Missionary Council unanimously decided in favour of a movement to check race friction by a world-wide declaration which affirms that it is essential for the Christian forces to work for the. removal of racial prejudices, for which a constructive programme is required, based on scientific knowledge. Natural resources should not be allocated in a manner inconsistent with the rights of native peoples, wbo should also be protected against alcohol and drugs- The relations between the controlling States and their dependencies should be amenable to public opinion. World education is needed in a spirit of natural friendliness, and development is required in the common courtesies of life to other races when visiting or visited. Two races side by aide should participate in cultural and religious fellowship and the development of personal friendship.—Australian Press Association.
