CAPSIZE OF A YACHT.
MISHAP ON SUMNER BAR. LIFEBOAT TO THE RESCUE. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 9. The Sumner lifeboat rescued a yacht's crew of four on the Sumner bar late this afternoon. The Huia, with her owner, Mr H. Parr, and three others on board, was capsized on the bar. The occupants managed to hang on to the boat, and although, owing to the rainy, weather, the beach was practically deserted, the mishap was seen from the shore, and the alarm sirens were sounded. There was a delay in getting a crew, and the inflowing tide and a head wind made the lifeboat’s passage slow, so that when it reached the yacht the men were almost exhausted. Numbed by the.cold as they were, and heavily buffeted by the broken water, only one was able to help himself, and the bther three had to be dragged board the lifeboat. ' The men soon revived on shore, and were able to go home. The lifeboat later went back for the Huia and towed her to safe moorings. „
