(Received Feb. 11, at 5.5 p.m.) A message from Portland (Oregon) states that Major Goodsell, the champion scnller, is safe. He is appearing there at a local theatre. He declared that he had no idea°how the report of his Hdnapping originated. He visited Mexico three months ago, and had since been giving a rowing act at the Coast theatres. The Pacific Coast papers of February 5 contained a despatch from Sydney credited to the United Press Association Copyright stating that Mr E. C. Uhr, a supporter of Goodsell, had received an anonymous letter from Mexico demanding £SOOO ransom for the sculler’s delivery.— A. and N.Z. Cable.
