CROQUET.
OTAGO CHAMPIONSHIPS. DOUBLES FINAL. The Otago croquet championships were continued on the Punga green yesterday, when a start was made with the Championship Singles, a two-life event. In the afternoon there was a large attendance of the public, and play in the final of the Championship Doubles was watehed with great, interest. The greens were again in excellent order, and showed little sign of the wear and tear usually displayed after -■veral days’ hard play. . , , The games will be continued to-day. when it is hoped that at least one other final wili be played. The following are the detailed results of yesterday’s games: CHAMPIONSHIP DOUBLES. Final. Mesdames Manhire and Horn (Punga) boat Mrs M’Creath and Miss Durham (Gore) 26—16. A great deal of interest was taken in this game, between 80 and 90 spectators following the pl-av with great interest. All four played fine croquet, but experience told in the long run, and the former holders of the championship ran out easy winners. CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES. First Draw—First Round. Mrs Horn beat Mrs Cooper, 26—4. Mrs Walling-Jones beat Mrs Manhire, 26 Mifs Durham beat Mrs Flynn, 26-8. Second Draw.— First Round. Mrs Osborne beat Mrs Flynn, 26—10. Mrs Horn beat Mrs Mrs Cooper beat Mrs Dixon, 26—22. Mrs Rigby beat M.s Gascoigne 26-18. Mrs Manhire beat Mrs Blaikie, 26—16. A GRADE. HANDICAP DOUBLES. First Round. Mesdames Passmore and Gascoigne beat Mesdames Osborne and M Creatb, 26 11. Second Round. Mesdames Horn and Rigby beat Mesdames Passmore and Gascoigne, 20 is. Semi-final. Mesdames Manhire and Buckland beat Mesdames Lavender and Flynn, 26—20. The remaining semi-final and the nnai of this section will be played to-day. HANDICAP SINGLES. First Round. Mrs Allen beat Mrs Wacher, 26—12. Mrs Dixon beat Mrs Rigby, 2 °— lo A, Mrs Passmore beat Mrs Glover, 26—24. Mrs Flynn beat Miss Jones, 26 —14. Second Round. Mrs Millin beat Mrs M'Creath, 26—16. Mrs Buckland beat Mrs Rivers, 20 —10. B GRADE. HANDICAP SINGLES. Semi-finals. Mrs Ferguson beat Mrs Mitchell, 26—21. Mrs White beat Mrs Munro, 26—0. Final. Mrs Ferguson (Balmacewen) beat Mrs White (St. Clair), 26—19.
