A TIMELY RESCUE.

CONSTABLE’S PROMPT ACTION. SERIOUS INJURY AVERTED. (Special to Daily Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 18. When Constable M'Cormick was on duty at the • intersection of Hereford street and Colombo street this afternoon a telegraph messenger boy (W. G. Withell) crashed into a trailer on a tramcar. He was thrown from his bicycle and was in danger of having his legs crushed under the wheels. Constable M’Cormick, acting promptly, swung the boy clear, and the tram passed on without seriously iinjuring Withell, except that his nose was broken and he suffering concussion. His condition is not serious.
