OAMARU MARKETS.

The Oatnaru markets hare shown no movement during the past week, the only selling operations being confined to a line of cowgrass of indifferent quality at 8d per lb, and oaten sheaf chaff at £5 5s per ton country stations. Oats are still unsaleable and last season’s wheat has been cleaned up. The opening price for next season’s wheat is still a matter for conjecture, but it is not expected to be lower than 6s per bushel. Definite information on the point may be forthcoming early next month. The merchants have been sending out large quantities of rape, turnip and grass seed. Very few tranactions h:" - '' token nlace in the live stock market. Hjxed sex hoggets out of the wool with mo re on wethers have sold at 20s per head, and hoggets in the wool at 245. Forward delivery lambs are being bought at from 21a 6cl to 225, and old ewes and lambs at up to 15s. The price of beef is the same as last week —namely, 35s to 40s per 1001 b. Heifer beef is 30s and cow beef 255. Local butchers have patronised the Burnside market this week for both fat bullocks and fat wethers as few are available in this district. Shorn two-tooth wethers have realised from 16s to 17s. There is still a keen demand for young pigs and orices 'have been well maintained. Generally speaking the stock in the district is in execellent condition as there is an abundance of grass. Lambs, however, have not made the same advance as in former years owing to the succulence of the pastures, and it will be some weeks before they are ready for the freezer. LONDON MEAT MAEEET. Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Ltd.) have received the following cablegram from their head office, Loudon, dated November 25: The market for X.Z. mutton is weak, and the demand runs principally on lightweights. Any change in the market for X.Z. lamb is in favour of buyers, and the demand is poor. The market for X.Z. beef is firm, and the demand better owing to cold weather. The martlet ioi ei.ustralian lamb is tending downwards, and the demand is nil. The market for Australian mutton is weaker, and the demand has been checked. Quotations are fes follows for frozen meat: —X.Z. prime crossbred lamb: Canterbury light, 9 7-8 d; Xorth island light, 9Jd; Canterbury heavy, 7id; Xorth Island heavy, 7d. X.Z. prime crossbred mutton: Canterbury light, 6 l-8d; North Island light, o£d; Canterbury heavy, Sid; North Island heavy, sd; good average quality Australian crossbred mutton, light 4d, heavy 3Jd. X.Z. prime os beef: Hinds, 4Jd; fores, 3£d. Australian lamb: Light, 9d; medium, 8d; heavy, 6Jd. The pork market cor spot, with the exception of 801 b carcases, is decidedly weaker. Quotations: Average 901 b, Hid; average 1051 b, 10Jd, 84d baconers. Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Ltd.) have received the following cablegram from their head office, London, dated November 25: The market for butter is firm. The cheese market is quiet. Quotations are as follows for dairy produce: —Danish, 170 s. N.Z. exceptional brands, n.q.; Australian finest unsalted, 1625; salted, 148 sto 150 s. N.Z. control price: Finest, 158 s; first, 1565; last season’s stored, 144 s to 148 s. Cheese. —Control price; Finest, 85s; first, 84s. Canadian, 82s to 88s.
