IMPERIAL CONFERENCE
QUESTIONS IN THE COMMONS. APPEALS TO THE PRIVY COUNCIL. (Pres* Association —By Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, November 25. In the House of Commons, arising out ©f the Imperial Conference, Sir O. Kin-loch-Cooke inquired whether Mr Baldwin ■would undertake that steps would not be taken to impair the right of appeal of British subjects in the dominions to the Privy Council without the Imperial Parliament being consulted. Mr Baldwin replied that he could not give an assurance that Parliament would be consulted except to the extent involving legislation. Sih C. Kinloch-Cook asked whether a change was contemplated in the right of a dominion Governor to refuse his assent to a Bill passed by a dominion Parliament or to reserve any measure for the Crown’s consideration. Mr Baldwin said that this aspect of the Governor-General's position was not dealt with by the InterImperial Relations Report. He was not aware that any change was contemplated. —A. and N.Z. Cable. DOMINIONS COME OP AGE. MR AMERY ANALYSES RESULTS. LONDON, November 20. (Received Nov. 26, at 9 p.m.) Mr L. S. Amery, in a broadcasted address regarding the results of the Imperial Conference, emphasised the *act that the dominions had come of age, and their full equality with Britain was now recognised, though this did not mean equality of status, wealth, or population as for years Britain was bound to play the major part- in the defence of the Empire and the settlement of foreign policy. The dominions were now entitled to exercise every function of national life. There were critics who feared that this meant thq beginning of the disruption of the Empire, but he did Hot believe that the Empire was hold together by a central authority, bat by common loyalty and ideals. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
