GENERAL NEWS.

The senior scholars of the Macandrew Road School met yesterday in the gymnasium, the occasion being the presentation of the sports trophies won during the year. Mr A. T. M'lndoo presided, and, on toenail of the committee, congratulated^the.teams upon their continued success. Mrs Nelson, on behalf of the Hockey Association, congratulated the girls' B team upon winning the competition. The team played six games, winning them all and scoring ifi, goals to nil. As there was not trophy for this competition the members of the team wet« each presented with a box of chocolates, tha gift of the president (Mrs Hudson). Mr D C. Cameron presented the Oswald Smith rose bowl to the Bantam No. 1 team The team played eight matches, and won them all. Mr Cameron, on behalf of the Schools Committees Association, congratulated the school upon the interest it took in the school sports. The Bantam No. 2 team also played eight matches, and won them all, scoring 148 points to nil. Mr DM. Stuart (president of the Otago Rugby Union) presented the Ritchie cup to the A team which had played five matches, winning them all and scoring 118 points to 6. Mr Stuart also congratulated the teams and expressed appreciation of the work done by the staff in coaching the teams. Special mention was made of the services rendered by Mr A W Alloo. A hearty round of applause was accorded him by the scholars. Mr A H Williamson (president of the bcnoois Sports' Association) referred to the success of the school in the different competitions and announced that the meda s won at the sports would be presented later. Each of the speakers referred to the good spirit shown by the teams or. the field. Mr J. Bowie (head master) had charge of the arrangements, and thanked the delegates for being present, and also the members of the staff for their work.
