A MISSING BANKRUPT
PARTNER LEFT LAMENTING NO REDEEMING FEATURES. (Special to Dailx Times.) WELLINGTON, November 25. "This is a shocking state of affairs," said the deputy official assignee (Mr G. N. Morris) at a meeting of the creditors of' Neil John M'Neill this morning." He burned his books. He left his partner to bear the responsibility, and he disappeared. There is nothing that can be said for him." Bankrupt's statement showed that his liabilities amounted to £172 7s 9d. His assets were £lO, and this left a deficit of £162 7s 9d. When he returned from the front he worked for the Railways Department for a time. For two years he held a clerical position in the Y.M.C.A. In January, 1925, he went into business as a picture house proprietor at Waitoa. In conjunction with the pictures he ran a confectionery business and fruit shop. It was eventually decided to oppose bankrupt's discharge until he made some effort to reduce his liabilities. A motion of sympathy was passed with, the partner.
