PREFERENCE DUTIES ADOPTED. AN ALL-NIGHT DEBATE, Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, June 11. The House of Commons, during the course of a night-long debate, after the rejection of the various Opposition amendments adopted the Customs duty on hops and Imperial Preference on sugar. The control of hops cerises in August. The new duty is £4 per cwt, with onethird preference on Imperial supplies The Hop Controller is holding up 5000 bales of dominion hope. At the High Commissioner’s request the Colonial Score tarv will release these earlier, to prevent unfavourable competition with foreign supplies.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
