John Lawrence Oos* grove was charged that on September 7, at Wiri, he unlawfully damaged a horse valued at £25 and six cows of a value of £ES, belonging to Kenneth Kelsey, with caustic soda. H© was remanded to Fob* ruary 19. Last night detectives raided premises near tho Auckland Town Hall and arrested nine Chinese on gaming-house charges. _ 'lbs raid waa carried out quietly, and it is alleged that a game was being played at tha time, the apparatus being seized by tho police. Cheong Oak will be oliarged with being the keeper of a common gaminghouse. In tho Supreme Court the jury returned a verdict of not guilty against Martha Jane O’Shaughnessy, who was charged with uru lawfully using an instrument on a girk NAPIER February 16. Geore Clarence Wilson pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court this afternoon to four charges of obtaining money by means of valueless cheques, the amount involved being £72. When arrested, Wilson told the police he got tho money while on a drinking bout. Accused was committed tg| the Supreme Court for sentence.
