IRISH TREASON BILL
AIMED AGAINST REPUBLICANS, EXTREME PENALTIES PROVIDED. Pima Association —By Telegraph—Copyrig \tLONDON, February 16. (Received Feb. 16, at 9.10 p.tn.) The Irish Free State Treason Bill represents a final effort to come to grips with the De Valera party. The Republicans aro already angrily dissenting from the proposals. Countess Markievicz says! "Hitherto I have called Mr De Valera ‘Dov.’ I shall now call him ‘President.’ ” The Bill ordains the death penalty for the following acts;—Levying war against the Free State Government; assisting or harbouring anyone so engaged; conspiring to levy war, or assisting, encouraging, or harbouring anyone so conspiring. Anyone who attempts to overawe a member of the Executive Council by force of amis or incites tho police or army to refuse duty is liable to penal servitude for 20 years.—A. and N.Z. Cable. #
