OCTAGON THEATRE. ‘"rigor Love,” a Paramount picture featuring Antonio Moreno and Estelle Taylor, will bo shown for (ho first iitne at the Octagon Theatre to-night. The Wildcat, a romantic Spanish bandit, has pledged himself to crush all autocracy. One of his lieutenants captures Marchota Puentes and is attaching her in a mountain stronghold when the Wildcat comes to her rescue. Instead of tattling her, as he tries at first, ho becomes infatuated with this impetuous beauty. Ho sends her homo, unharmed, realising tho gulf that separates thorn and his hopeless love. Later the Wildcat hoars of a wedding to bo held in the city, 110 finds the residence of tho bride and invades the place in the dead of night, to steal tho rich presents. He comes face to face with Marchota. Jsoili are drawn together by a great love, iud lie takes her into his arms. Tho .girl (ells (lie bandit that her father and tho mayor of tho town are forcing her to wed Ramon, the mayor’s nephew. Tho wedding is to take place at high noon tho next day. Marchota and her fop bridegroom are about to enter tho church when the Wildcat at tho head of his band of desperadoes abducts (hem from under the very nose of tho soldiers and whisks them away to his secret stronghold. There he tries to mako Ramon fight for March eta’a hand, but Ramon faints from sheer cowardice. In defiance of all, Marchota decides it is tho bandit sho loves, and although he is a hunted man with a price on his head, agrees to marry him. lust as tho ceremony is started, a troop of cavalry, headed by Don Miguel Caslolar, surrounds the Wildcat’s den. But tho Wildcat, with his arm about Marchota, holds his gun against tho mayor’s heart and threatens to kill him if lie (tho Wildcat) is arrested. An old priest tells tho mayor that tho Wildcat is his son, and tho dwarf, the bandit’s servant, takes a locket from tho Wildcat’s nock and shows tho mayor a daguerreotype of tho iatter’s wife. Tito picture closes with the mayor reconciled and tho promise of hanpiness to Marchota and tho Wildcat. The.ro is a strong supporting list, and enjoyable music is provided by tho Octagon Concert Orchestra. . EMPIRE THEATRE. To-night tho Empire Theatre will head its new programme with another remarkable 'First National production, entitled ‘'Lilies of tho Field.” featuring Corinno Griffith and Conway Toarlg, who are classed among tho most popular actors of tho screen. Tho supporting cast also contains a number of well-known- names such as Alma Bennett, Sylvia Broamor. Myrtle Stodman, Cranford Kent. Charles Murray, Phyllis Davor, Cissy Fitzgerald, Charles Gerhard, Edity Ransom, and Dorothy Brock. The picture, which is an eight-reel production, is described as a drama of women who livo for . their own pleasure, and of men who doubt the nobility of womanhood,' with which is coupled a beautiful lovo romance. Tho lies of th© field, of course, are analagous to the beautiful women who toil not, spin not, and yet who are arrayed in the costliest of silks and the rarest of gems. Although a stirring picture, with a breathless climax, there is nevertheless a strong vein of humour which acts as an excellent antidote for tho more tragic scenes. The supporting programme will consist of a number of news films and some comedies, and the Empire Orchestra, under Mr Chas! Parnell, will play selected music. QUEEN'S THEATRE. A double feature programme wilt be presented at tho Queen’s Theatre to-night. Tho first of these, “Mord Em’ly,” is a story wTVh an infensely human touch, and centres round a charming and irrepressible little Cockney (Mord Em’ly), who “gets three years” for an offence sho did not commit. Nevertheless, she makes the best of a bad bargain, and her gay spirit lightens the hearts of her unfortunate associates. Her troubles do not begin, however, until she is released, when her villainous father, who had also been undergoing a term of imprisonment, makes his reappearance. Ho kills her mother, and is about to do the same to Mord Bm'ly when providence, in the form of a young man, intervenes. ’ The other big picture is “The Danger Point,” featuring Carmel Myers and \V. P. Carleton. There are also several supports. EVERYBODY’S THEATRE. “The Rip Tides.” a thrilling story featuring Stuart Holmes (who has tho attest iontlile privilege of being one of the best villains the screen has ever produced) and Rosemary Theby and “Fighting Fury,” an equally sensational tafe. with Jack Iloxio in the leading role, are the two pictures which will take pride of place at Everybodv’s Theatre to-night. There is also a strong supporting programme, including several interesting gazettes and comedies.
