LORD DOYEKDALE. Pittas Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 6 Tho death is recorded of Lord Doverdale. He started life as an errand boy in a paper mill Lord Dover dale was a director of tho Manchester and Liverpool District Bank. He presented a convalescent home to the borough of Glossop. Ho was the son of Mr Edward Partington, and was born in 1836. He was created a baron in 1916. BISHOP PHELAN. LONDON, January 6. The death is announced of the Eight Rev. Patrick Phelan, Roman Catholic Bishop of Sale, Victoria.—A. and NE. Cable. Bishop Phelan was bom in County Kilkenny in 1860, and was educated at Mount Mellaray Seminary and St. Patrick’s College Carlow. He was administrator of St ’Patrick’s Cathedral, Melbourne, from 19io to 1913. In the latter year he was appointed Bishop of Sale. •
