BUSH FUSES CONTINUE. WOMAN FATALLY BURNED. Press Association —By Telegraph-Copyright SYDNEY, January 14. The suburban bush fires continued during the week-end. They caused considerable damage. While endeavouring to extinguish an outbreak at their home in Waverley, Mrs Overtide and her daughter were so severely burned that both had to be sent to hospital where the former died. LEATHER FACTORY DESTROYED. MELBOURNE, January 14. Fire at Richmond destroyed Russell Bros, leather factory. The damage is estimated at £30,000. The insurance amounted to £27,300., BUTTER REDUCED IN SYDNEY. SYDNEY, January 14. The wholesale price of butter has been reduced by 5d per lb, to Is 8d per lb. FEDERAL AND STATE FINANCE. SYDNEY, January 14. At an informal conference between Dr Earle Page and Sir Arthur Cocks (State Treasurer), it was agreed to postpone the meeting of State and Federal treasurers until later in the month. A conference has been convened with the object of considering the proposed taxation on loan interest and the co-ordination of borrowing.
