GREEN ISLAND COUNCIL

The monthly meeting of ihe Green Island Borough Council was attended by the Mayor (Mr J. L. Miller) and Crs Reeve, Smellie, Eason. Christie, Kane, Harrison, and Tontr kins. An apology for absence was received from Or Smith. The Finance Committee recommended the payment of accounts amounting to £IOB 7s 9d. Receipts for the month, £934 19s Id. The bank overdraft, after paying accounts, amounts to £454 9s Id. —Adopted. The Works Committee reported as follows:—Work carried out, during the month: Pipes laid in Main read fronting houses from A. Harris's to the church; a start made to lay pipes in front of M'DonaldV and Simpson's properties; crossing pm in

footpath in London street ; 24 tons of rnotal put on the Brighton road and blinded; water service put in to James M'Mullau’s new house. The committee recommended thatthe clerk write to the Ratepayers’ Association informing il that the council would favourably consider erecting a bridge at Da.ll street if the association would find a reasonable sum of money to subsidise the council’s share. Adopted. After having considered the clerk s repost that to lay the water on to the cemetery would cost £35, the Reserves Committee recommended that this should be done, and that, a t rough be installed.
