Cable. TIMARU WOOL SALE. (Per UMted Prbss Association.) ■ ! TIMARU, January 3. Tha first wool sale was held to-day, when nearly 10,000 bales were offered. There was a full bench of buyers from 1 all quarters, and bidding was spirited. The market showed a healthier tone compared with recent sales. Prices for three-quarterbred and scouring wools improved. Merinos and best halfbreds were'on a par with recent sales. About 5 per cent, of the total was pasted. Average quality price? were:—Merinos, 13d to 14Jd; 11 Jd; coarse, 9d to lOd; fins crossbred, 6Jd to 8d ; medium, 5d to 6d;, coarse, 4d to Id. Pieces sold. well.
