DRUIDISM

The quarterly meeting of All Nations’ Lodge was held in the. Druids' Hall, Chalmers, pn August 23, A.D. Bro. Stevenson presiding over n large attendance of members. The usual routine business was duly carried out, and after the sick bard, Bro. Craig, had reported on the sick brethren, sick pay to the amount of £l2 10s was passed for payment. It was decided, after a keen discussion, to incVease the incidental fund levy by 6d per quarter. It was also decided that, in future no initiation fees be charged to hew members. G.P. Bro. Jacobson gave a brief resume on some of his recent visits to country lodges. The fortnightly meeting of the Pride of Morning ton Lodge was held on July 28, A.D. Bro. Lawson presiding over a fair attendance. The bards’ report showed that the members were enjoying good health. A lively discussion took place on the Grand Lodge’s proposals regarding increase in membership, and a motion was carried suggesting amendments. P.A, Bro. Robertson offered a silver medal tor competition among the members, the trophy to 'bo awarded to the brother bringing in the most new members in the ensuing year. P.A. Bro. Jelley was congratulated on his winning the P.A. and championship competition, and Bro. Clark on winning the D.P. competition. A candidate was presented for initiation, and was duly admitted to the order. The team for the Ross Stewart shield occupied the chairs, and put Up a creditable performance. A;D.S. Bro. Metcalfe .forwarded his resignation from that office owing to removal from the district. Tire lodge accepted his resignation with regret, and on the chair being declared vacant P.A. Bro. Quam was elected to the office.

The quarterly meeting of Linden Lodge was held on Tuesday, August 30, when there was an excellent attendance of members. The lodge was opened in duo form by A.D. Bro. Edwards, and all officers were present except A.D. Bard Bro. Curtis. An official visit was received from D.P.'Bro. Reeves. and the lodge gave him a hearty welcome. The usual business was transacted in a fairly efficient manner considering that the A.D. is the youngest member in the lodge eligible for the high position. Bro. Swan was granted a clearance to Royal Oak, and the secretary was received in on clearance from Pride of Mornington. Pour candidates wore initiated into the rights of Drmdism, Bro. Stc-rer acting as A. Druid. The sick bard reported on the sick members. The lodge will hold a bosket social next lodge niglit.

The quarterly meeting of the Lily of the Valley Lodge was held in the hall, Albany street. A.D. Bro. Bedford was greeted by a good attendance. Official visits were received from G.P. Bro. Jacobson and GA ,P. Bro. Walsh, accompanied; by P.D.P. Bro. _/hurohill, officers of the Linden Lodge, representatives from Bay and other lodges, the occasion being a pound night. A largo amount of correspondence was dealt with. It was decided to impose a levy to assist the management. Two, candidates sought admission and received into the Order, the officers performing their duties with more than ordinary ability. B.P. Bro. Reeves, on behalf of the lodge, presented Bro. Thompson and Bro. Trimmell with handsome . P.A. collars for services rendered, the recipients suitably responding. After the usual routine business had been transacted an adjournment was granted. On resuming, the loyal toasts were given and responded to by G.P. Bro. Jacobson and I).P.’s Bros. Reeves and Ockwell in well-chosen remarks as to the good and welfare of the Order. The P.A. of the Linden Lodge responded on behalf of his lodge, Bro. Nichols on bdnalf of West Harbour Lodge, P.D.P. Bro. Whitty fox the Bay. Harmony was contributed by Bros. Green. Trimmell, M’Farlane, Munro, and Crawford.

A memorable event took place at the meeting of the Royal Oak Lodge, it being the fortieth anniversary of the opening cl the branch of the Order. As it had been decided to entdbtain the charter members to a social evening, 120 brethren from city and suburban lodges attended to do honour to these pioneers. Among those present were G.P. Bro. Jacobson. G.V.P. Bro. Walsh, G. Sec. Bro. W. B. Steel, and members of the Board of Management. D.P. Bro. Ockwell, No. 2 district, -and the chapter .officers, P.G.P.’s Bros. Bryant, Alexander, Harland, and Dove, add many old members. The following contributed to the harmony of the evening: Bros. Ruston, Swan, Macfarlanc, Stanley, Collett, and Steel. P.D.P. Bro. Hudson,

P.A. Bro. Harry Norman, and Bro. Loudon were the special guests of the evening, and occupied seats of honour. Theoe brethren entertained their friends with reminiscences of the' early struggles of the lodge. The usual toasts were given and responded to with enthusiasm, replies being made by the G.P. and his officers, Bro. Ockwell on behalf of No. 2 district, andl R.A. Sec. Bro. Reid for chapter, the various presiding officers for their respective branches. The chapter officers have decided to have the trophies won at the recent solo competitions by Bros. Robertson, Clark, Jolley, and Harwood presented at the monthly meeting of the chapter to-day. Arrangements will he considered for the annual syllabus. The ritual revision committee has completed its work, end will handl over the result of its labours to the Board of Management for further consideration.
