COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS’ CHOIR.
The residents of the Miller’s Flat districthad been eagerly looking forward to the visit of the Commercial Travellers’ _ Choir, who gave a concert on Saturday night in aid of .the funds being collected to erect a monument to those who had made the supreme sacrifice during the war. The choir, under the baton of Mr Thos.. Ritchie, was greeted with a bumper, house, many of the audience having travelled long distances. Much enthusiasm was shown, encores being the rule, and the choir and individual performers Were reluctantly permitted to leave the stage. The various items rendered by the choir and the quartet party was a revelation to the audience, who expressed ' theiv enjoyment in unstinted measure. Messrs R. Wardrop, EL Angell, J. Cameron, C. Scott, IT. Reid, and N. Black contributed solos and duets, and Mr M. Hope accompanied throughout. , Mr MacDonald, chairman of the local committee, expressed the great pleasure it gave them to welcome the choir, and mentioned their appreciation of the members coming such a long distance to’augment the funds, which would be substantially increased. Many of 'the brave boys of tho district had fallen, and the residents were determined to erect a fitting tribute to their memory. , Mr S. T. Mirams, replying for the choir, said it was always prepared) to assist such worthy objects, the ' great J difficulty being that of conveyance. , The arrangements for the welfare of the choir were carried out by Messrs C. Topham (secretary) and M. Faipan. r
