ERNEST DRAKE RECITAL

The name of Ernest Drake as a tenor singer is now a household word in New Zealand, and the announcement that he is to give another recital in the Burps Hall to-morrow night is creating a considerable amount of interest in musical circles. For years past Mr Drake has done the principal work for most of the choral societies in Now Zealand, and since his return from England the demand for his services lias been greater than over. Advertised in this issue aro extracts* from the press notices, which aro all eulogistic of his voice and artistry. Mr Drake is a Dunedin man, and it is to be expected that the Dunedin public will give him a bumper house at his final recital. He is singing many request items, and his greatest effort will be “Celeste Aida ” (Verdi), this aria being the late Hignor Caruso’s masterpiece. -The box plan is at the Bristol until to-morrow at 12 noon, and afterwards at the Geyser .Fountain.
