The following are tile results of Saturday's matches: — Seetionp. Wins. lAissee. T'le following scored 2 points:—Carersliani, Duuediri, Is'ortli-East Valley, Otago, Outram, St. Kilda. One-point wins \vero as follows;—Balirncewon, Caledonian, Green Island, Roslyn, Port Chalmers, and Taieri. Results to dato:—Dunedin, 8 points; Caledonian, Kaikorai, Otago, Outram, and Roslyn, b points; Balmacewon, Cavcrsham, (rreen Island, Kaituna, North-East Valley, St. Kilda; 4 points; Taieri, 3 points; Mornington and St. Clair, 2 points; Anderson's Bay. Port Chi'mjw, and West Harbour, 1 point; Faii-lieltl, nil. Saturday's matches resulted in some _bi§r wins and some close contests in the various sections. In ft. Kilda's section A against St. Clair, M'Farland's and Summerell's rijiK.s scored 3C and 33 respectively for St. Kilda. In section B tho finish was close, St. Clair winning by 6+ to 63. In rection C St Kilda .'inished with a total of 71 to their opponents' 48. .. .-.._... Dunedin did some heavy scoring' against •Balrnaoowen, Section A, ending with a score, of 89 to 31. Gillies boat M'Lennan by 31' to" 13, Logan boat Connell (an ex-Phcenix-Oamaru player) by 31 to 4, and Nelson completed the rout, by securing 27 to Da vies' 14. In Section B -T. Hitchon scored 32 to A. Wilson's 21,, but Balk more than equalised matters by getting 36 to Smith's 16. Considering the weakness of a number of Balnwwen rinks it seems remarkable. that_ in Balk's quartet there should be three skips, Rentky's rink was in good form in Section C. as is shown by the score of 30 to_ 15 against- Latimer. Section D gave an excit-ir-q: finish. With two rinks finished Dunffd.in had a lead of 1 point, and when the skips— Harraway and Stables —in the unfinished games .went'bade to play their bowls, Balmacewen lay shot. Harraway was unabla to alter the position, and Stables, with a finely drawn bowl, added another counter, t.hu« giving his section a one-point win. It certainly appeared until the last bowl had been played .as if all four players in this section would havra to turn out and plav another head. Weir •• (Kaikorai) has been in excellent form this season, which ho maintained on Saturday bv defeating Wilkinson (Caversham) by 30 to 10. Jt is rather a coincidence that in' the m-'tch between Anderson's Bay and St. Kilda the three rinks representing the latter club each scored 22 points. The. Taieri rink, skipped by Findlav. had « fi"ld day against M'Callum's rink (NorthF<3?t.Y*l|es)> scoring 35 to 15. The veteran Cars well •■went down by 13 to 18 against Marshall.

At. the list meeting of the Council of the Dunedin Bowlinrr Centre on Monday night a notice of motion by Mr M. Barnett. to be discues"d ntthe annual meeting of dele'rntes to the Dominion Bowling Association, having for its obj.jct an increase in the number comprising the National Council from five to six in eich island, was considered. Mr W. G. Hay pointed out that before such a motion could be adopted it would bo necessary to amend the rules so as to make provision for the eloction of two additional members to the council, as the rules are. at present constituted only five could lie elected, and Mr Barnett's "motion only implied that six might be nominated. Tho council decided to support the motion conditionally upon the rule? being so amended as to enable the .annual meeting to elect six members of the council from each island. An excellent ■ suggestion mit forward by tho and one which all bowlers will b" in accord, was that the h°nefit of this additional representation should go to the smaller centres. The object is to prevent any of the big centres from having an undue nroportinn of representatives on Dominion Bowling Council. Considering the weather conditions fair nrogmss was marl? with the club tic 3 during the week on the West Harbour green. The following frames were played:—Champion Singles: J. Veitch beat D. Petrie,., E. Hodge beat T. Maekie. E. Mullinger beat .T. M'Bherson v "A.. Silver beat G: Grant. Handican Singles: M. Hutton beat".T. I .Pregv ton. T. "Mackie beat AT. Galf, A. Poftrmn >"<at AV. CVnnor. .1. A T eitch heat D. Petrie, E. Hodge heat T. Donaldson. J. M. Hutton beat .L Domlrlsnn. Doubles: J. Veitch A. 'Portman, AA\ Conner beat J. B. Button.

Tho following rink will represent West Harbour at the Southland tournament at Invercargill at Now Year : —Wills, Robert: son. W. Connor and Veitch. i ■ General regret, 'will be felt at the death of tile president of the West Harbour CTub. Mr T. Donaldson, sen., who passed away while on a trip to the Old Country. On Saturday afternoon Mr E. Kollett made feeling reference to Mr Donaldson's- death, stating that the West Harbour Club had sustained an irreparable loss. Play was suspended for a while out of respect to the memory of the deceased, and the secretary was instructed to write to tho deceased gentleman's family conveying the olub's sympathy. The late Mr Donaldson was a man of very kindly disposition, and was highly esteemed by nil who kDew him.' Ho took a keen interest in the West Harbour Club, of which he was one of tho founders. During last winter he undertook, with tie assistance of some fellow-members, to instal lockers in the pavilion, and' this work will be a. monument to his memory. The Dunedin Club still heads the list in regard to interclub fixtures. The club was hard up against it last Saturday, but in the finish secured a 2 point win. Dunedin ia the only club so far to get the full number of points eaoh Saturday. Tho Dunedin Club lost one of its old members by the sudden death of Mr Robert Dow. "Bob" was i-ery popular among all bowlers, and played a very solid game in interclub and four-rink championship matches Ho played third for J. Petersen against Kaikorai last Saturday, and his sudden call at noon on Sunday camo as a groat shock to all his ohibmates. Though the funeral was a private one, by the kindness of the members of deceased's family the president, vice-president, and secretary of tho club, the chairman and secretary of the Social Committee, and Mr John White, a very old friend of tho late Mr Dow, wore able to be present at the last service. "Bob" was a good member,..and will leave a gap bard to fill. An ex-Dunedin bowler, who is now resident in one of tho "smalls" in the North Island, writes intereetragly of the ''only game" in that town. "It is," he says, "tho most obsolete centre, from a bowling point of view, one could imagine. With the exception of tournaments, no arrangements are made by tho centre in regard to club matohes. and practically tho only amusement that can be got on the greens is by arranging friendly pairs' or rinks' games. Quito a number of olubs in the adjacent country towns arj affiliated to the centre, and it seems absurd that a programme of interclub fixtures canrot be arranged. A mouthful is made of the fact that some of tho towns have the half-holiday on Wednesday and some on Saturday, but to my mind it is only a question of 'where there's a will there' 6 a way.' After being used to the fraternal care exorcised' by the Dunedin Centre,, it will no doubt take mo some time to get i used to the methods in vogue up here."
