SOUTH AFRICAN WOOL

QUESnON OF IMPERIAL PURCHASE,

LATEST NEGOTIATIONS.

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.

CAPETOWN, December 17. (Received Dec. 19, at 7.30 p.m.) In connection with the negotiations for the purchase of the South African wool clip, the Imperial Government states that the Army Council is no longer interested in securing wool. It is prepared, however to take 150,000 bales as a result of a strong desire to place South Africa on an equally favourable position with other dominions. If this offer is not acceptable, the Imperial Government would prefer to withdraw from the negotiations, which are now quite superfluous from a, military ' standpoint.—A. and N.Z. and Router.
