SOUTHERN STARR-BOWKETT SOCIETY.
The twelfth annual meeting of the above society was held last night. A fair number of shareholders attended. The Chairman (Mr S. (5. Myers), in speaking on the report- prior to "its adoption, pointed out that the profits stood at £5319, equal to £9 4s 9d per share. The sum of £50,200 had been lent to members for providing homes without a penny's loss to the society. Messrs S. S. Myers, J. H. Hancock, and James Brown were ro-elroted directors, and Messrs Monkman and Chalmers aucTtors. A ballot was taken for £500 in No. 2 group, resulting in cluster 33, held by one shareholder, obtaining the amount, and tho sale of £500 realised £5 10s per £100. The first ballot in No. 3 group was drawn by cluster 127, held by three shareholders. 'The Chairman pointed out the advantages of joining this group early.
