Wandering Cattle. —For permitting cows to wander at large at Green Island, William Irvine was fined ss, and 7s costs, on each charge. Matthew Faulds was charged with permitting one bull to wander on the Brighton road on October 19.—Mr Ramsay, for defendant, contended thc.t there was no act of permission, it being purely an accident that the bull was on tne road, and when this was known immediate steps were' taken to have it removed.—Albert Alexander gave evidence in regard to the bull wandering.—His Worship remarked that the bull was evidently a dangerous animal. The defendant was fined 20s, and costs (15s). 'Disorderly Behaviour.—George Henry Giggins was charged with unlawfully assaulting Isaac Morris on November 2 and using threatening behaviour in Rattray street whereby a breach of the peace was caused. The same accufeed and William Leonard Johnson wore charged with using obscene language.—Sub-inspector Mathieson said that defendants were members of the crew of the Paparoa. The assault was an unprovoked one, the accused attacking Morris, who was sitting in the doorway 0 f his shop m toe Arcade at the time makinu cigarettes. Morris was considerably knocked about, and the conduct of the accused was outrageous—feaao Morris identified both accused as the men who attacked him. They first approached him and assed if they could go into his back yard. Witness replied that there was no Tw J** premises, .but suggested that thev should go to the yard at tie rear of the hotel on tie opposite side of tho street. Giggins then struck him in the senseless.—Thomas Alexander Dalo said he saw both accused being thrown out of Watson's Hotel.
