FINE WORK BY BRITISH FLYERS.
A WEEK'S RECORD
(Pee United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, November 4. Following is' a telegraphic summary of war operations for .the week ended November 1, received by the Prime Minister from the British Ministry of Information: After recapitulating information already cabled regarding enemy losses, the situation of the Czechs in the Ekaterinburg region, London opinion regarding armistice terms, and conditions in Germany, the review continues :—
Throughout the week the British aircraft notably contributed to developments on the western front. Owing, perhaps, to improved weather conditions, the enemy at last made increased efforts, and severe air-fighting took place over the _ Le Quesnoy-Yalenciennes railway. During four days 58 enemy machines were destroyed, and _26 driven down, while 31 British machines are reported as missing. The whole week's bag involves 77 German Siachines destroyed, 35 driven down, and eight balloons shot down afire, with 54 British machines failing to return. A feature of the week's raiding was the severity and insistence of* the attacks delivered by the R.A.F. Independent Force on all the usual objectives. On the Italian front valuable reconnaissance and photographic enterprises were carried out, preparing for a renewed Allied offensive on the Piave. In the recent heavy fighting on the Venetian plains low-flying British scouts played a great part, effectively co-operating with the rapidly advancing British infantry pe Austrian airmen, owing to recent iieavy_ losses, showed marked lack of appetite for battle. There are ( ) British machines missing, which is a n amazingly low total, considering the enormous amount of work accomplished over the fighting zone.
