TUAPEKA COUNTY ELECTIONS

The following are the nominations received on Monday for the representation of the various ridings:— Gabriels.—J. K. Simpson, elected unopposed. WaiporL—Robert G. Cotton, elected unopposed. Tapanui.—Robert Alexander Rodger, elected unopposed. Orookston.—John F. Herbert, elected unopposed. Teviot.—Roderick Mac Donald, elected unopposed. Benger.—John Bennetts, elected unopposed. Browns.—Patrick MTneroey and Sinclair Wright. Waitahtma. —James K. Brown, William Cameron, and Alexander Fraser. Beaumont. —Duncan M'Lennan, elected unopposed. Mr Sim, the sitting member for Tapanui retired in favour of Mr Rodger. The contest for Browns Riding came as a. surprise, it being generally understood up to the time for receiving nominations that the sitting member (Cr M'lnerney) would have a walk-over.
