MEMORIAL SERVICE AT MOSGIEL.
A memorial service to Corporal George Walton was held last night in the Methodist Church, Mosgiel. Suitable anthems were rendered by the dioir, and the Rev. Dr Pinfold preached an impressive sermon from Job's question, "If a man die, shall he live again?" From, the teachings of conscience, phyaaology, and the Bibto. it was shown that this question must be answered in the affirmative. Hence the bereaved may look up through their tears, and be assured they will see their loved ones again. Corporal Walton was born in Mosgiel about 23 years ago. Ho was always a bright, cheery boy, kind-hearted, and ever ready to help another. He want to do has part in the w*r willingly, and his letters have always spokon well of camp life. His temperament led him to look on the bright side of things and make light of tho hardships which our soldiers undergo. Ho belonged to the l&th Engineers, and left New Zealand with part of the 21st Reinforcemente as a corporal, about January 21. On arrival in England ho spent some tune with the Royal Engineers at Boscombo. Ho arrived in France on May 2, was wounded on August 7, and died on August 18 in tho 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station, J'uch sympathy is felt for the bereaved mother and her other son.
