DEATH OF MENTAL HOSPITAL PATIENT.

DUE TO HEMORRHAGE. (Pee United Press Assooiatioh.) WELLINGTON, September 8. An inquest was held last night concerning the death in the Porirua Mental Hospital of a patient named Hammond. The evidence showed that the deceased suddenly attacked an attendant named Watson on Wednesday last, and that in the struggle that ensued both fell on the floor, but with the assistance of a patient Hammond was eventually overpowered. Hammond died the following day from internal injuries. It was alleged that he had been kicked in the stomach by Watson. The jury returned a verdict that death was due to hemorrhage, and that the attendant used no unnecessary violence, and was in no way blameworthy. Tliere was no evidence that deceased had been kicked in the stomach.
