ANOTHER AIR RAID
VISITORS BEATEN OFF'. A FEW CASUALTIES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association and Router. LONDON, July 22. Official: A squadron of between 15 and 21 aeroplanes approached Felixstowe and Harwich, at eight o'clock this morning and dropped bombs.. Our heavy anti-aircraft fire caused the formation to split, part returning oversea and part proceeding southward on the Essex coast. The raiders were constantly engaged by gunfire, and proceeded homeward without dropping more bombs. Our aeroplanes pursued the raiders out to sea, heavily engaging them, but visibility was low and observation difficult. Eight persons were killed' and 1 25 injured at Felixstowe and Harwich. WARNINGS OF ATE BALDS. Auatmlian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, Jnly 22. It has been officially decided to give air raid warnings in London by sound bombs, fired from mortars placed at the fire stations. Simultaneously the police will exhibit notices to take cover. ONE RALDER BROUGHT DOWN. CASUALTIES TOTAL 37. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association and Renter LONDON, Jnly 22. (Received July 23, at 8.50 p.m.) The Press Bureau reports that the air raid casualties were: Eleven killed, 26 wounded. The damage done was insignificant. A flying corps patrol engaged the raiders when returning, to Belgium, and brought down one in the sea.
