MINING.

Tho Rise and Shine No. 1 dredgo worked the western portion of the cut last week. J. he pottom was chiefly white clay; but it carried no wash, and thoro were no indications of an immediate improvement in that respect. The No. 2 dredge had a soft sandstone bottom on the west, and clay on the other side of the cut. There was a slight improvement in the quality of tho ground on tho eastern side. In tho other half of the cut the ground was deep, with very tight wash. The first dividend since tho recent reconstruction of tho Talisman Consolidated Goldfields, Ltd., has been declared of Is pi<r share, absorbing £17,250. The total dividend and bonuses since the reconstruction of.the late company amounts to J31.064.720. Tho total value of bullion won from the mine is £2,666,957.
