OCTAGON AND KING EDWARD THEATRES.
A study of various phases of tho human character, cleverly blended with an insight into the characteristics of certain disease bacilli, forms tho foundation of "The Microscope Mystery," the leading picture of tho new series introduced last evening at the Octagon and King Edward Theatres. Under these ciroumstances it is not surprising that a picture has been evolved in. which the dramatic force of the story is supplemented to an unique degrco by the educational interest of many of the incidental scenes. The first portion of the story shows with a genuine touch of satirical comedy how a wealthy, hypochondriac fares at tho hands of ah unscrupulous quack, and winds up by way of contrast with a tragic murder. Tho daughter of the "patient" falls under suspicion for this crime, but a young country doctor named Arnold, who has made a close study of germ life, clears her reputation, and by what his microscope reveals fastens the guilt upon the proper person. Tho fifth episode of "Gloria's Romance" (featuring tho popular actress, Miss Billie Burke) is also being screened, and in this number the heroine, becomes tho victim of a serious attack of. pneumonia, and in her delirium she lives over again the stirring days in Florida, where she encountered a number of exciting adventures with the Seminole Indians, just as morning dawns Gloria imagines she has again been saved by Freneau, and : sinks into a natural slumber. The sifnie _ pictures will bo shown at each theatre this evening.
