SCHOONER OMEGA ARRIVES.
An arrival at this port early yesterday afternoon was tho four masted American schooner Omega, which brought a oaigo of lumber from Mululteo, Western America Tho actual voyage to New Zea'and occupied 83 d<iAs. Tho e.uly stages of the }omno.v were favoured by fino weather, but when tho vessel was some 36 d<ijs out severe winds were encountered, and tho hull was. badly strained, causing a 10-ak on tho port bow * Tho ehip made a good deal of water— roughly about siv inches an hour,—and ihc motor "pumps lwd to bo kept going all the timo, though, owing to the nature of the cargo, there was no immediate danger of her sinking. A course was sot for Pago Pago Harbour, and tho Omega was laid up there for three -weeks v.liilo repairs were effeeted. A good run of 26 days, acoompnnird bv fine weather, was mado from Piwro Pago to Dunedin. The cargo brought bv tho Omega coiwN 650,0D0ft of Orecrm. and the charter is held bv Mwrs J. Fothcringhiun ind Co. it a rate, it is understood, of 110<* rtor 1000 ft Tho shipment will be divided between Messrs Ilogg and Co. and Messrs M'Callwn and Co.
