FATALITY IN WELLINGTON
A CONTRACTOR'S DEATH. (Pbk Uhitbd Pb«ss Associatiow.) WELLINGTON, January 16, Henry Gray, of the contracting firm of M 'Loan and Gray, who are now building the new Club Hotel on Lambton quay, aied last evening aa the result of an accident on the work just before noon. Apparently while Mr Gray was standing on the ground a 6mall piece of bar fell from the third floor, a distance of about 40£t, and struck him on the top of the head, penetrating about three inches. He was picked up in a few minutes, and medical aid was summoned, but though an operation was performed, ho sank and died. He was a native of the Orkney Islands, about 40 years old, and leaves a widow and three young children. The firm in the last 14 years has carried out a .number of important works. They built the Unioji Company's workshops at Evans Bay, the outpatients building at the Wellington Hospital, and seven drill halls for the Defence Department in various parts of the dominion.
