SHIPPING SPACE
MERCANTILE CIRCLES PERr. TURBED. (Pes United Pbsss Association.) WELLINGTON, January 13. A shortage of shipping space is affecting mercantile circles. There is 110 troublo concerning insulated space; the arrangements made with the Imperial authorities appear to ensure that meat, cheese, and butter will continue to get away promptly, but shippers of wool, hemp, and hides are finding difficulty in securing space, and the outlook is not bright. The shortage of shipping is due largely to the commandeering of ninnv hundreds of vessels by the Admiralty and War Office, and is bem<r felt all over the Empire. Advices recei' 1 in commercial circles here indicate that the matter haa been receiving anxious consideration in London.
