WOOL SALES.
(Peb United Pbhbs Association.) WELLINGTON, April 1. The High Commissioner reports that the wool sales have closed. The prospects are favourable owing to Americans holding oif. Continental buying continues. Estimated values are:—Fine crossbreds, all grades, 17d to 19id per lb; medium crossbreds, all grades, 16d to 18 jd; coarse crossbreds, all grades, 15d to 18d; superior merino, 14£ d to 16d; medium, lid to 14d; inferior, 8d to llid. 1
Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co. have received the following cablegram from their London agents, dated March 31:—' 'Sales closed firm, prices unchanged. Held over 18,000 bales, including wool unobtainable on aooount of congestion at docks." The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company advises receipt of the following cablegram from its London office: — "Sales closed; market firm. Compared with March 5, merino sooured 5 per cent, to per cent, lower; orossbred- scoured slipo, par to 5 per cent, higher. 0 '
