OAMARU NOTES.

(Fhom Oua Own Cobhespondents.) OAMARU, March 31. To-day Mr Bartholomew, S.M., gave his reserved judgment in the case New Zealand Express Company v. Bruce Christie, a claim for £42 13s lid for the cartage of oats from Enfield. The plaintiffs contended that Christie was the principal in the transaction, and the defence was that Uhristie only acted for Tonge, the purchaser of the oats, in introducing Tonge to the plaintiff, and that Tonge had mado the carting arrangement. The plaintiff was nonsuited, with costs for the defendant.

Lengthy evidence was taken in a case Thomas Moody v. Bulleid and Co., a claim for £4 10s for alleged wrongful dismissal. Moody, -who was secretary and accountant to the firm, went to Christchurch on Thursday, March 8 (a statutory half-holi-day) and returned next day, being absent for about, four working hours. Soon afterwards he was told that his services had been dispensed with, although the agreement called for two months' • notice. The plaintiff stated that ho had had considerable differences of opinion with Mr Findlay, Bulleid's manager. Judgment was reserved.
