CITY POLICE COURT.
Thursday, April 1. (Before Mr H. Y. Widdowson, tS.M.) -Drunkenness.—A first offender, -who did not appear, was fined 10s, in. default 24 hours' imprisonment. -Francis Harrington, alias Frank the Poet, with 34 previous convictions, -was fined 10s, in default 24 hours' imprisonment.
Friday, April 2. (Before Mr M. Fraer, J.P.) Drunkenness.—A .first offender, of Italian nationality, -who pleaded "Not guiltv" to a charge of drunkenness, was convicted and discharged. Robert Kerr, who had not been before tho court for four years and ahalf, was similarly dealt with. From tho Benevolent Home.—Jane Whittaker, an old woman from the Benevolent .Institute, was charged with vagrancy.—Subinspector Broberg said sho had been found in Maclaggan street at 10 o'clock that morning, and tho police had taken charge of her in her own interest. Tho manager of the Benevolent Home was willing to tako her back and giive her another chance.-: He was willing to withdraw the charge in order to facilitate this arrangement. This was accordingly done.
