RIMING.

Writing of the productive capacity of the North Lyell mine, tho Australian Mining Standard states that it has never at any previous time in its history been in a better state. With an adequate supply of labour, and the extensive area of stoping ground! more opened up at the various levels, the mine is in a condition to put out 12,000 tons a month if required, and on some days lately over 500 tons of ore has been lifted and sent to the bine at the haulage station. Just at present, however, it appears as if an average of 10,000 tons'a month is about ae much as they can handle at tho emelters, but it is only a matter of a few months when they will be aiblo to do better than this, as the oomplotion of the hydro-electric power scheme, tne removal and remodelling of the converter plant, and other alterations and improvements at tho reduction works, aro bound to facilitate smelting operations and tend to increase the tonnage of oro generally treated.
