Novel grounds were advanced by Mr Percy Speuco, the well-known artist, at the Quarter Sessions at Sydney last week, before Mr Justice Docker, for being excused from attendance as a juryman. Mr Spence, who had been summoned to attend as a juror on Thursday and Friday, pointed out to his Honor that he was engaged on a painting which was intended for presentation to the King, and said that his absence from the work for a couple of days would mean a serious delay. The picture is a representation of the arrival of the Australian Navy on October 4. The leave, us asked for, was granted.
