BLUFF WATERSIDE WORKERS. • (Per United Press Association.) INyEECARGILL, June 8. Mr J. R. Triggs, Conciliation Commissioner, presided to-day at a conference between tlie Bluff Waterside Workers and the employers, who arrived at an amicable agreement, the principal features of .c that wages for handling general cargo shall be Is od per hour, with 2s per hour for overtime; guano or superphosphates in bulk, sulphur in mats or bags, Is 6d and' 2s 3d; coke in bulk,-'ls 4d and 2s Id; shovelling ballast, Is 3d and 2s; coal, Js 6d and'2s 6d; trimming coal in bunkers on all steamers, 2s and 2s 6d; carrying coal, 2s and 3s; overhauling, working on ships, Is 3d and 2s; handling frozen produce, Is 3d and 2s'; in freezing chambers, Is 6d and 2s 6d; night watchmen, 10s por shift; men to be paid for half an hour when they work 16 minutes, and no payment for any time less than that. The men also earn payment when ordenjd down to begin work and are not put on —between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., one hour, and between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m., two. hours, double time'to be paid on Sundays, Christmas Day, and Good Friday, and overtime rates on New Year's Day, Bluff Regatta Day, and foister Monday, the Sovereign's Birthday, Labour Day, and Boxing Day.
