Drunkenness.—A first offender was fined ss, or 24 hours' imprisonment.—John Mossop, who had not boon before the court since March, 1905, was similarly dealt with. —A maniwho was evidently sufforing from the effects of a drinking bout was remanded for medical treatmont. .

Sutherland, who said be was a- member of the Labourers' Union, was chargod with, on February 7, at Dunedin, unlawfully assaulting John Edward MacMauus.—Mr Irwin, who appeared for the complainant, asked for a remand.— Station-sergeant King eaid the facts wero simple. T'h.o accused, who had been tho worse for liquor, wont to MacMamis's office on Tuesday, and created a disturbance a policeman having to be sent for.. The accused had evidently been behind in his contributions to the union,—His Worship said that if a remand, were granted it wero bettor not to hear either side.— Mr Irwin said the accused stated he had a grievance. Ho was put off work because he had rot paid up his contributions to the union.—The* four witnesses who wero present in court not claiming their expenses, the caso was adjourned till Mondav next, bail being allowed in tho accused's own recognisance of £10. Maintenance Cases.—Gustavo Tioadee was charged with disobeying an order of tho court to support "his child in the St, Vincent de Paul Orphanage.—Mr Irwin appcarod foT defendant, and said that the defence was that tho amount of tho order had been ovomaid,_ and that nothing was due.—After going into the case, his Worship adjourned tho case for a month, to enablo a statement to be formations against 'Robert Bagnall and Andrew Carnegie M'Gregor wero \idiourncd.—Mr Kennedy appeared for M'Gregor.
