SUICIDE IN FIJI.
POLICE INSPECTOR SHOOTS HTMSELF. (Frosi Our Own Cohrespohdent.) AUCKLAND, August 22. Tho Suva correspondent of the New Zealand Herald savs that another and the fourth case of suicide there within a_ few weeks lias to he chronicled. The victim was Inspector Ciosstray, in charge of the police at Navua. He was only 48 years of age, and was transferred from the Melbourne police to Fiji in 1 887. His ability won for him rapid promotion, and lie was looked upon as one of the best ollicers in the force. He had been somewhat depressed of late, and was found dead at his table one morning with a revolver bullet wound ill his head. In handling Fijians and Indians Inspector Gosstrav had no equal, and his place will bo a llard one to fill! He left three letters—one to the In-spector-general, one ,to his wife, and another to his daughter.
