WALTER STREET, CARISBROOK.
call attention to a .grievance that is at present bwily felt by a. section of tlio community. I refer to tho disgusting state of the drainage in Walter street, Carisbrook. Far months tho residents have been petitioning and begging that tomething should bo done to improve tho unsatisfactory state of affairs that exists, but tho Mornington Borough Council will do nothing," A conference was held' somo nmo ago between tho council and the Drainage Beard, with the result that tho Drainage Beard said it could not tindortako the work of drainage till th* street was channeled. This is exactly wliat tlio ratepayers want done, but still tho council persists in ignoring the applications of tho residents. At present there is not G\OU a footpath in the upper part of the str J 3l, m hicll wot ffCiltii er is a sea of ii i drainage from the houses lies in filthy pools, giving forth in this hot weather a disgusting odour, so that tho residents are in daily Oread of ail epitome. Tho upper part of (The street remains as it was 25 yeaTs ago, shortly after the stresfc was opened, although for years almost every section lias been contributing revenue, to the Mornington Borough Council. Tho Health Officer When approached, refers the matter to tlio council; the council refers it to tho Urainnge Board, and the ■ Drainage Board .refers it back to the council, and meanwhile the indignant residents and their children are conceited to endure tho foul odours and filthy sights. Can nothing bo dene for us?-I am, etc., Disgusted Batbpateh.
