REEFTON, May 19, Tlie Hon. Mr Millar last night strongly defended the action of the Government in presenting a Dreadnought to the Imperial Government. Some day the people would know tho full reasons. It was impossible to rim the risk of a defeat to the British fleet and the danger to our commerce. The enthusiasm with which the gift was received in the Home. Country showed its value. The Minister was cheered. NAPIER, May 19. The quarterly meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, with one dissentient, resolved—'- That this chamber heartily endorses the action of the recent conference of Chambers of Commerce at Wellington in supporting the Prime Minister's action in offering a Dreadnought to the British Government.
