There was gre.it enthusiasm at Toronto on ths occasion of the banquet to the press delegates. The Lieutenant-Gover-nor [Colonel Morrison Gibson) presided. Sir J. Wiiiney (Premier) extended the freedom of Ontario to the delegates. He said the colonies had awakened from lethargy to it. realisation of their relations with the Empire. Mr Cunningham (editor of the M«l----houwip Argus) .'poke in favour of closer relations between Canada and Australia. Mr U. Fenwick (New Zealand) said that the coming conference ought to serve to solidiiy and strengthen the bonds of Empire. Mr Gresley Lukin (New Zealand) referred to the necessity for the Jlritish dominion* being able 10 largely defend themselves. lie was enthusiastically cheered when he alluded to New Zealand's gift of a Dreadnought.' .Mr Thomas urged closer trade relations between Canada and Australia. All t|ie speakers favoured belter cable and mail facilities. /
