MAYOR OF AUCKLAND HONOURED.
(Pep. United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, February 24. The Mayor of Auckland (Mr Arthur M. Myers), who vacates-that position tomorrow in order to proceed on a trip to tho Old Country, took leave of the citizens to-night at an immense gathering in tho Albert Park. Fully- 10,000 persons were present. The function took place at the band rotunda, the space around which -was brilliantly illuminated by lamps specially erected by the Gas Company. An uddTess (which is to be illuminated) was presented to Mr Myers by Mr L. J. Bagiiall, president of tho Chamber of Commerce, on behalf of numerous subscribers. The Mayor was also the 'recipient of a presentation from tho Auckland Provincial Bands' Ass-jiaation. This took the form of a laTgu shield, bearing photographs of tho members of the association and of the Mayor and Mrs Myers. It was mentioned that during his four years of office the Mayor had contributed £850 to the funds of tho Hands' .Association. Mr Myers was also presented with an. address from tho suburban local bodies.
