Oddfellows drew a bye, and Taialu would r.ot pull, a protest being held over. SAKGOOD, SOX. and EWEiYS EMPLOYEES. The annual picnic of the combined factories of Messrs Sargocci, Son, and Ewcn was held at Stewart's Gully on Saturday, and was attended by over 400 of the employees, their relatives, and friends. An excellent sports programme had bsen prepared, and was thoroughly enjoyed by those present. Toys, which were distributed wUh a liberal hand, were a source of endless amusement to the little ones. A well-contested scven-a-side Rugby football match, Clothing Factory v. Boot Factory, resulted in a dinw, each side scoring a try.

PORT CHALMERS COMBINED EMPLOYEES. Favoured by fine weather, the annual combined picnic of the employees of the Union Company, Messrs .Stevenson audi Cook, and Gardner a;:d Co. was hold at Waitati on Saturday, over 1200 persons taking advantage of the day's outing. The children were specially catered for. the sports including H events, for which.over 150 prizes were given, end over 270 presents were distributed to the children under live years of age. The baby show was a great success, there being 1G entries. Three ladies acted as judges, and were assisted by Mr E. H. Clark, M.P., who also picseivted the prises won by the junior contestants in the various races, etc. Mr D. Oven&n was chairman of committee, ar.d worked unceasingly all day, and was ably assisted by Messrs A. Cable, Collier, Conner, Chisholm, Hutton, Miller, MacLaren, Whytc, Wilson, Pritchard, Jack, Osborne, Fullcrtoii, Latta, Smith, Mathewson, Dalgleish, M'Kenzic, Jenkins, Limn, Grey, and GundM The following is a list of the prize-winners:— Apprentices' Race.—G. MRS BLACKIE'S EMPLOYEES. Tho employees of Mrs Blackie's factory and friend;; held their annual picnic at Mr Andrews's picnic grounds, Broad Bay, being conveyed lo their destination by the s.s. Moerangi. The v.eallier was beautifully line, and all present enjoyed a very pleasant outing. Tho secretary and committee arc to ba congratulated on tho manner in which all things were arranged and carried out. Excellent music was supplied during (lie day by Benin's orchestra, lo which a number oE tlie younger folk danced during the day. Abundance of toys were provided for tho children, and very handsome prizes weregiven for the races. A special word of thanks is due to Mr Andrews for the courtesy shown to the" picknickers.
