THE LABOUR DEPARTMENT.
APPOINTMENTS AND TRANSFERS. (Per United Press Association.) WKLLINGTON, February 3. The appointment of Mr P. Ilally, of the Dunodm office of the Labour Department, to be a Conciliation Commissioner has necessitated a large number of changes in the department's staff.
There have been two new appointments—namely, Mr T. E. Bailey (late secretary of the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council), who becomes an inspector of factories in tho Taihape district, and Mr W. 6. Light foot (secretary of the CaTpsntcrs and Joiner. l ?' Union), ivho will Ik made an inspector of factories.
Mr LeCren (late Inspector of Awards, Wellington) assumes charge of the Dunodin oilice at the beginning of next. week, jir YV. Newton, of the Christeli-urch office, replaces Mr LeOen as Inspector' of Awards in Wellington, and has already arrived. Mr H. P.. Bower lias been transferred to take charge of the Invercargill office in place of Mr L. D. Lrewett, who proceeds to Christ-church as assistant inspector. ill' (i. A. Hoed, inspector in charge ot the Wairarapa district, transfers to Chi-istcluirch in place of Mr liower, and Mr J. (jeorgeson, in charge of the Kangit-ikei district, succeeds Mr Hood in the Wairarapa.
