Arrangements betwcc-n the bank iind the Borough Council regarding the borough finances have been completed, and the borough workmen resumed work this morning. GISBORNE, February 3. Proposals to borrow ' £41,000 for road construction, £65,000 to instal the shone system of sewerage, and £6000 for recreation reserves were submitted to ratepayers t-o-day by the Gisborno Borough Council, and all were rejected. LEVIN, February 3. The polic.c received information that a ir.an resembling M'Neill passed through Foxton on Saturday morning. He called for food at several houses in Foxton, telling a similar story to that which he toid tho settlers here. CHRISTCITURCIT. February 3. A military bazaar held by the trustees of the King Edward Barracks last year liiis resulted in a balance to credit of £•2040. The trustees are asking the Government to subsidise this amount to the extent of pound for pound, or make up the sum necessary (£3000) to clear the debt on the barracks.
