At tho Addington live stock market to-day there was a fairly large yarding of all classes of stock, and a pood attendance. Store sheoD sold rathor above late rates. Fat lambs were rather firmer. Fat cattle showed no change in price, and pigs were easier. Tho store sheop entered wore better in quality than late yardings, there being a fairly large number sent forward. Forward wethers and lambs for turnip-feeding met with a good sale at prices showing an upward tendency, and ewes in good condition weie well competed for at late rates.

The yarding o£ fat cattlo was a heavy one, comprising 37G head and inoluded some speoially good linos. There was fair competition, and prices wero without quotable change The range ot prices was: Steers. £1 17s 6d to £10 7s Gd; extra prime, £11 to £13; heifers, £4 15s to £7 17a 6d; extra, to £8 10s; cows, £4 10s to £6 ss; and extra, to £10 10s—equal to 22b to 25s Gd for prime, 18s 6d to 21s Gd f<vr medium, and 17s to 18s for cow and inferior per 1001b. In the store pens there was only a small entry and the sale was a dragging one throughout. Forward steers made to £4 Bs, and hcifcra from 30s to 555, according to age and condition.

There was a medium entry of ordinary quality of dairy cows, and a fair demand for all classes. Young cows about to calve wore keenly competed for, and sold at prices up to £9 17s 6d.

There was im average entry of pigs, of which a considerable proportion was unfinished, and met with a mtheT dull demand at easier rates. The next sales will bo held on Thursday, May 14. Tallow and Fat.—Supplies short, and a firm demand ,is ruling for all lots 011 offer. Quotations: Best rendered, 20s to 21s; in tins, 17s to 19s; caul fat, 17s to 17s Gd; butchers' rough fat, lGs to 17s per cwt. Grain.—Oats: The demand both from local buyers and shippers is strong, and all grades of sound oats are readily quitted at prices which in most cases show an advance of Jd por bushel on late quotations. Seed lines have more* attention,- and for all sorts the market is firm. Quotations: Seed lines, 2s Gd to 2s 7d;_ prime milling, 2s 5d to 2s 5Jd; good to best feed, 2s 4d to 2s sd; medium and inferior, 2s 2d to 2s 3Jd per bushel, sacks extra. Wheat: In sympathy with Australian markets, prices all round show a sharp rise. All lines of prime milling have been eagerly taken up by local millers at prices considerably in advance of those ruling last week. Fowl wheat has also improved in value, and stocks for the present are low. Quotations: Choice seed and' prime milling, 4s lOd to ss; medium to good, 4s 8$ to 4s 9Jd; whole fowl wheat, 4s 7d to 4s 8d; medium, 4s 5Sd to 4s 6Sd; broken and damaged, 4s 2d to 4s 4d per bushel, socks extra.

Potatoes.—The market has been in an unsettled stato ,for some days owing to tho difference that has arisen between local shippers and buyers at other ports regarding tile inspection of shipments. In consequence Kttlo business lias been passing, and stocks have accumulated to some extent. At Monday's sales considerable quantities were submitted, and although competition was good tip to a point, values showed a drop of abmt 7s Gd to 10s per ton on those of last week. Best Derwents sold at £1 10s to £4 15s; best Up-to-Datcs and other white sorts, £4 2s 6d to £4 7s Gd; medium, £3 15s to £4 per ton (bags included).

Chaff.—During the week considerable quantities have come forward, but, with good export demand, all prime lots liavo met reßdy sale at improved rates. Quotations: Prime oaten sheaf, £3 17s Gd to £4 2s Gd; medium to good, £3 10s to £3 15s; light and inferior, £3 to £3 5s per ton, bags extra.

Pressed Straw.—Moderato consignments continue to arrive. Quotations: Oaten, 355; wbcaten, 32s Gd to 35s per ton.
